The adults should have returned by now, not all of them do due to road kill and hazards unfortunately, but they're also nocturnal and rely on camoflage so 99% of the time we don't see them unless they're trapped in our pool or drains. Good luck Ch...

Frogs On The Frontline

Article written by Helen Turnbull from Serendipity Africa courtesy of 'Responsible Traveller' magazine.

It is with more than a hint of curiosity and amusement that I find myself out in the black velvet night on foot – well in gumboots actually - in the bush. Ankle deep in authentic local mud, without a beauty therapist in sight, and armed only with a net and a head torch. I am on the edge of a reed bed, in amongst a small group of fellow enthusiasts enjoying a new edge to Eastern Cape hospitali… Continue

Hi Suzie

Have just written an article on a new Eastern Cape frog safari - perhaps some of your readers might be interested to read it. Would you like the text and some pics? Regards Helen

Thanks! Say how do you get one of those bumper stickers if you live in the USA? I'd love to put one on my car, especially since my Illinois license plate says "FROGS"!!

Thanks Suzie, I'm only moving them as I need to get rid of the water container where they currently are, it's an old flattened vinyl swimming pool. The other tadpoles (in the old sandpit) are being left for now for just that reason.
Thanks for sharing your thoughs on the frog, I do have leopard toads as well just don't have a nice photo of one for the profile!

Thanks Suzie, I'm hoping to learn a lot about keeping these fella's going in my pond! I'm busy relocating tadpoles from inappropriate places in my garden into my pond at the moment.

Thanks for the welcome. I just came across your site today doing some research on social network web sites. It's very nice and informative. I'm also doing research on Texas toads and Gulf Coast toads (the one in my pond) for a book that my wife is writing--interesting that it's a book about our little woodlet. I'll send in some other pics of the tads in the next couple of days.

Thanks for taking on this effort!

Hi Suzie
Just to let you know I have installed 2 Toad ladders into our pool and although I have found toads in the garden fortunately no casulties in the pool. Not sure if it is the ladders or they are becoming a little smarter........

All the best

Chris

Hi Suzie

Great site and I love the passion people have for these beautiful little creatures. I certainly hope to become involved in the future, if you need a pair of extra hands.

Keep up the great work

Chris
