After months of planning and conceptualising; designing and editing,
the first comprehensive Western Leopard Toad Information Boards were erected at the Noordhoek Farm Village in Cape Town. Our goal is to erect a further 10 sets of these boards around the greater Cape Town area.
Suzie and Alison were delighted to see the hard work of the team proudly displayed at last.
Although there have been toad boards (at other locations) in the past,
our boards are the first to explain how to welcome these endangered animals into our gardens as pest-controlling residents. But toads cannot provide this service unless our properties are toad-friendly. Our new boards explain how to do this.
The boards were designed by Belinda Ashton in consultation with the Toad NUTS and the Western Leopard Toad Conservation Committee. In addition several willing photographers donated their stunning images. Our thanks go to the Toad in the Village; NEAG and the Noordhoek Conservancy; and to the local residents for their financial support. Also thanks to Andrew at High Signs.
Next time you are in our beautiful valley visit the Noordhoek Farm Village and spend a little time getting to know our charismatic local toad in living colour!
